Iron County Wisconsin - "A Wisconsin Heritage Area"

Lakes & Flowages

· Refresh yourself in, or on, one of Iron County’s 214 clean lakes. Southern Iron County is Lake Country and home to the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, “Wisconsin’s Crown Jewel”, offering 19,000 acres of water strewn with over 100 islands and rimmed by 220 miles of wilderness shoreline. Chances are you’ll hear the haunting call of a loon, get a glimpse of a whitetail deer or reel in a trophy from our fish-rich waters.

· In Northern Iron County, Lake Superior’s tops for recreational variety. Sail stiff breezes by boat or board. Sink a lure into crisp, fish laden waters. Comb broad beaches. Or simply swim.

is overwhelming.

· You can find your way around on the Iron County Lakes easily with the assistance of our experienced guide services and Lake Superior charters. They know when and where to go to be sure you make the most out of your outdoor experience. Most lakes have public boat landings, with some lakes offering access through resort landings.. Boat and watercraft rentals are available.

· Canoe and kayak along the routes that were used by the Native Americans and Fur Traders in the 1600’s. As Iron County Canoe and Kayak Guide offers specific directions to follow the same waterways.
